The new month of da’wah began with a surge of energy for the iERA Uganda da’ees. Armed with the message of God’s oneness, they tirelessly traversed village after village, their mission to bring people back to Allah. Their efforts, guided by the GORAP methodology, were already bearing fruit, with communities beginning to transform.
In one of these villages, they met a young man named Areija Festor, a 24-year-old whose life was entangled in a web of bad habits, including theft. The da’ees approached him with kindness, sharing the fundamental truths of Islam: the oneness of God and the true prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him). They spoke of a faith that wasn’t just a set of beliefs, but a complete way of life.
Areija listened intently, his heart stirred by their words. He asked a question that was at the core of his struggle: “Can Islam help me recover from my bad behaviors?”

The da’ees responded with a powerful and reassuring message. They explained that Islam is a faith built on good character and that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) constantly emphasized the importance of virtuous conduct. This truth resonated deeply with Areija, touching a part of him that longed for change and a better path.
In that moment, a flicker of hope became a burning flame. He decided to embrace Islam. The da’ees guided him through the declaration of faith, the Shahada, and with it, Areija’s old life was washed away. He was given a new name, Bashir, a name that means “bringer of good news,” a fitting title for a man who had just embarked on a journey from darkness into light. His conversion was a testament to the power of sincere da’wah and the profound truth that Islam offers a second chance to all who seek it.
