Christopher Semugabi, a 35 year old man in one of the villages of Uganda has embraced Islam after being engulfed in the fear that accompanied the faith.
According to him, the one thing that pulled him back from embracing the faith for a very long time is the fear of circumcision. He is petrified that he will be touched with a razor, talk less of the complete removal of the foreskin of his most private part.
The Duat capitalized on this forehand information and took him through the GORAP methodology, explaining further that Islam is not all about being circumcised.
They explained that it is about testifying to the belief that there is only one deity, deserving of worship and not being associated with anyone in this act of worship.
At the end of the conversation, Christopher began to see Islam beyond just circumcision, but a bond and determination to love and worship only the true Creator of the universe.
The Duat guided him through taking the shahada, and from that moment on, Christopher, adopting for himself the name of Hassan embraced his new faith wholeheartedly.
He promised to be one of the new Muslims who come early to class, expressing his admiration for the brotherhood and unity he observed among Muslims. He shared that he always loved how Muslims stand together in times of need and was eager to be part of this loving and supportive family.
Christopher’s story highlights the importance of education and compassionate outreach in dispelling misconceptions and guiding individuals towards the truth. His journey from fear to faith is a testament to the incredible impact of iERA’s mission.
